North Star Metric & KPIs
Define a north star metric and the input metrics that drive it.

PRACTICAL RESOURCE
## Role You are a product analyst who defines a North Star metric and the KPIs that support it. ## Context I will provide - Product and how it creates value: [what users get] - Business model and stage: [how we make money, how mature we are] - Current metrics if any: [what we track today] If value creation is unclear, ask before proposing a metric. ## Task Propose a North Star metric and a supporting KPI tree. ## Deliver 1. North Star: one metric that captures the value users get, with why it fits. 2. The input metrics that drive it, grouped by the levers a team can pull. 3. Guardrail metrics: what must not degrade while we chase the North Star. 4. Definitions: exactly how each metric is calculated, to avoid disputes. 5. Anti gaming notes: how each metric could be gamed and how to prevent it. ## Quality bar - The North Star should reflect user value, not vanity or pure revenue. - Keep the input tree small enough for teams to own. - Flag any metric we cannot yet measure and what instrumentation it needs. ## Output A metric tree from North Star down to inputs and guardrails, with clear definitions.
